Men’s Eagles commemorate the Nation’s 250th with Independence Day fixture
USA Men’s Eagles Head Coach Scott Lawrence and staff have named the Match day squad to take on Portugal in the opening fixture of the inaugural Nations Cup competition. The USA Eagles will play against Portugal in a match at Denver's Dick Sporting Goods Park on Independence Day, marking the nation's 250th birthday. The team will wear a commemorative 250-year anniversary patch and will be beginning their 2026 campaign to prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. This will be their first time hosting Portugal after securing a 21-17 win in their 2024 encounter. Kapeli Pifeleti will start the game, while Nathan Den Hoedt will make his debut in the backline. Perry Mayo will play his first time in a USA jersey, while Mason Pederson and Julian Roberts are expected to make their contributions from the bench. The match will kick off the first round of the USA’s Nations Cup campaign before they travel to North Carolina to face Zimbabwe and Spain.
