Las Bodegas Opens in Denver's Westside Neighborhood

Seven years and $4.4 million later, Denver's Latino Cultural Arts Center finally has a permanent home. The Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC) has opened Las Bodegas, a renovated warehouse in Denver's Sun Valley and La Alma-Lincoln Park neighborhoods. The building, which houses classrooms, artist workspaces, digital media facilities and community gathering spaces, was purchased by LCAC founder and board chair Adrianna Abarca in 2019 and was intended to be a permanent place for Latino art, history, and cultural exchange. The opening ceremony was significant as a symbolic representation of what the Westside has lost to development. LCAC secured $2.5 million in funding supported by U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and $1.9 million in state community revitalization funding. The facility is part of a larger three-site campus that will eventually include galleries, museums, artist work areas and event spaces.
