Denver’s newest park repurposes 2-acre former greenhouse site

The new park is packed with amenities, including an accessible, two-tiered playground, a multisport court, walking paths, open green space, picnic areas, seating and solar-powered lighting. Denver's newest park, Bethesda Park, has officially opened in North University Hills, a neighborhood in southeast Denver, bringing green space closer to nearby residents who often have to travel a mile to find open space. The city purchased the former Groundcovers Greenhouse parcel in 2019 for $5.1 million and added another $55.5 million from the RISE Denver GO Bond, a voter-approved initiative passed in 2021 to support economic recovery and invest in city infrastructure. The park features amenities such as an accessible playground, multisport court, walking paths, open green space, picnic areas, seating and solar-powered lighting. The property was purchased through the Parks Legacy Fund, approved by Denver voters in 2018 to preserve and expand the city's park system.
