Nathan MacKinnon's huge night helps Avalanche shake off rough road trip to defeat Lightning, 6-3
DENVER - Nathan MacKinnon doesn't often have back-to-back off nights, but his response looked famili... Nathan MacKinnon led the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, despite a back-to-back off-night off from the previous two games of the season. MacKinn scored a goal and three assists, helping the team shake off a poor two-game road trip. This was MacKinin's 45th game with three-plus assists, tying him with Joe Sakic for third in franchise history. Mackenzie Blackwood made 31 saves to secure the win. The Avs took a big lead early, but Tampa Bay's two goals and a power play in the third period gave them a chance. The win comes after back-for-back losses in Philadelphia and New Jersey, which Avs coach Jared Bednar called two of the team's worst games in years.
