Record Coalition of Conservation and Outdoors Organizations Unites Behind Proposition 137

A statewide alliance represents the largest collection of outdoors organizations urging YES on a ballot measure in Colorado history. The Record Coalition of Conservation and Outdoors Organizations has united in support of Proposition 137 on the November ballot in Colorado, representing over 55 groups dedicated to conserving Colorado land, water, and wildlife and accessing the outdoors. The coalition represents the largest collection of conservation and outdoors organizations urging a YES vote on a ballot measure in Colorado history. Proposition 137 would allow the state to keep all revenue generated from existing state sales taxes on sporting goods and outdoor equipment and use this money for conservation and wildfire risk reduction efforts. It would provide an estimated $175 million annually to protect clean water sources, reduce wildfires, and restore natural habitats without increasing tax rates or creating new tax burdens on Coloradans. The measure comes as Colorado faces increasing environmental threats, including a $200 million annual funding shortfall to manage forest health and a potential double threat of destructive landslides and severely degraded drinking water quality that can persist for up to a decade. Funding from Prop 137 will directly support conservation efforts across the state.
